Sowing the Seed to Reap the Harvest!!!

Today I got to sow some seeds.  I sweated my tail off in the hoop garden.  It got to 80F inside.  I planted:
onions, corn, lettuces, hot peppers, dill, sunflowers, tomatoes, beets, carrots, and snap peas.  I hope by the time we return from Arkansas/Texas everything will have sprouted.
Eno loves the new growth of catnip

We had Daryl over for a Sunday dinner.....BBQ ribs, baked tater, and slaw.
We ended the day with a lovely Strawberry Rhubarb custard pie.  A modified Aunt Pat recipe...Oh my!!!  See you in Arkansas/Texas.

Catch my breath...

Addicted to the love I found
Heavy heart, now a weightless cloud
Making time for the ones that count
I'll spend the rest of my time
Laughing hard with the windows down
Leaving footprints all over town
Keeping faith, karma comes around
I will spend the rest of my life
Catching my breath, letting it go...

Life seems to throw so many things my way. How can a girl who loves a quiet life have so much noise? I am grateful and blessed for it all. But, this weekend has been great for just catching up and catching my breath. So, here are some pics from my life over the last few weeks.
Last photo of Mom in her Ohio house... Here we come NC!
Dad looking really good after leaving the hospital and arriving at his rehab facility.  Keep up the good work Pops.
So honored to get to see Mama Karen in action with Leo Richard. He is a little doll...and she is beautiful!
I was the first non-family member to hold this little miracle.
The move to NC was eventful to say the least...it was great to sit down for Mom's first meal in her new/old home.
Winnie was exhausted from all of the work... Grandmother would be ashamed!
Several visits with our Sr. Loves... Granddaddy is always good for a laugh!  He threw his hat on backwards and put up his dukes for Mags. It was adorable and hilarious.
I LOVE MY LOVES!!
Back home... visiting our goat friends.
Simple home-cooked meals make me happy.
The cats first chance to get outdoors since December.  With all of their medical bills, I was hesitant to even try.  But, a little fresh air now and then will be good for them.
Beau's new chickens sure have grown fast since I last saw them!
Worked in Seattle for a week... beautiful boats and water everywhere.
Glad to be home with Connor (aka: Willie, the Farmer, the BKG owner/mechanic, Mr. GQ, cat whisperer, chef, etc.) this weekend. He helps me see the beauty in everything.

Gone Like the Wind

Today is a day that BKG hasn't seen since it opened it's doors in late September 2012.....an empty garage!!!  Wednesday I sold the CB750 and yesterday the CB450 Nighthawk went away.  I don't know what to do now?  I guess I can clean my tools and organize the garage for the next fleet of two-wheelers.
Empty...but still a mess.
Oh.....I forgot about the garden.  The plastic came in weeks ago.  Last night I decided it was time to wrap the hoop garden to get the soil cooking.  I sorted my seeds and came up with a game plan for planting.  I will let the soil heat up for a few days. If all goes well Sunday with be the day!  Let's hope!
Looks at that black soil....
This bed should grow good maters!

There should be plenty of crops at the end of our tunnel...
All wrapped up...
The hops are reaching for the sky...
I'll let you know how Sunday goes.

Farmer Willie....signing off!

Busted Knuckle Garage

The garage is now down to 2 bikes......I don't remember if I informed the thousands of readers that the Kawasaki twins sold in 3 days.  About 2 weeks ago I found yet another sweet deal on Craigslist.....a 1982 Honda CB450 Nighthawk.  This is the first year of the Nighthawk.  It made a great run with Honda.  Today they still make this engine and it's called the Rebel 450.  The bike wasn't running when I went to check it out, but I saw the potential.  This bike is a great commuter as is (55mpg) or would make a sweet cafe racer.  This engine is real quick and light.  I rebuilt the carburetors and rejetted, installed new front and rear brakes, new Kenda cruiser tires, new throttle cables, and fresh oil and spark plugs.  I was zipping up and down our hill within minutes.  All that is left is to finish rebuilding the front brake caliper and then it's ready for the auction block.  I think this will turn a quick pretty penny for BNG....and if it doesn't......I know someone who wouldn't mind riding it......yes, me!
Just arrived home......
Tearing it down....
Just need a little more polishing and then it's ready for the auction block....

The Honda CB750 is finally back on the road after a small rebuild.  I tell you what.....that dang engine is heavy!!!  I replaced some gaskets along with some valve adjustments and added some super good oil and oil additive.  A new set of low rise handle bars and this beast runs like a raped ape!
I stripped an old oil pan bolt.....I drilled a hole in the center of the bolt and hammered a screwdriver into it and backed the bolt out.  See next pic.
This bolt was underneath the engine.  I had to lay the bike down to perform the work.  Yes a 550 lb bike.
I think she looks sweet!  Could use a little polish....maybe next weekend.
I posted the Honda CB750 on Craigslist tonight....Hopefully someone else will be loving on her soon!
